WMS looks at christianity
in Korea in the early 1900s..
The Lucknow Presbyterian
Women's Missionary Society
opened the New Year at their meet-
ing at the church on January 6 with
a New Year's theme.
Mildred Loree was in charge of
the program and commenced with a
Poem The Old and The New, fol-
lowed by prayer.
The devotions, by Donalda
Moffat, were entitled Make a New
Year Really New. She read the
story of Zacceus from Luke 19 and
told how his life was changed after
he met `Jesus.
The-rollcall was answered with a
New Year's Thought and the pay-
ment of Presbyterial fees. The pro-
grams for the corning year were
handed out.
Elleda Laidlaw presented the
topic, choosing as her theme the
beginning of Christianity in Korea.
The first Presbyterian missionaries
went to Korea around 1914 and
worked, there until 1925 when the
mission work was taken over' by the
United Church. The Presbyterian"
Church at that time began the work
among the Koreans who were living,
days. in Japan. -
