A 25 -year-old Port Elgin than was
taken to Kincardine and District
General Hospital for minor injuries
after an accident on Highway 86
hear side road 20 of Kinloss Town-
ship.
The driver was travelling west on
Jan. 7 at 8:45' p.m. when he
swerved to avoid a dog in the road.
He lost control of the car, spun and
entered the 'ditch • where the car
rolled onto. its side. •
A second accident took place on
Jan. 10 at 8:05 p.m. on County
Road 23 near Lome Beach Road in
Kincardine Township.
Two people were taken to hospital
by a passing motorist . for minor
injuries after the 16 -year-old
Kincardine area driver's car began
to slide while on a curve.
The car left the road, hit a hydro
pole and continued further into a
bush.
There were no charges laid.
On Jan. 4, OPP received a report
of a -break and enter at MacTavish
fuel in Lucknow..
The theft occurred sometime over
the previous night after the glass in
the door had been broken to unlock
it. •
Two part cartons of cigarettes
were stolen.
Also on Jan. 4, police received a
mischief report from a person
parked at the Bruce Nuclear Power
Development.
The owner of the car thought
something had been thrown through
the back window of his car but
kept busy..
OPP have determined the glass
shattered on its own. • -
A baby seat was stolen from a car
parked at a residence in Lucknow..
The car may have been unlocked
and die theft occurred between 8
p.m. and 11 p.m. oh Jan. 5. The
seat was worth about $107. •
Kincardine OPP were called to
assist Goderich OPP just south of
Port Albert where the Goderich
Officers had stopped a vehicle for a
highway traffic act violation.
A search of the vehicle
uncovered liquor and a Large
amount of hashish and cocaine.
The driver struggled with
Goderich OPP officer until a unit
from Kincardine arrived to help get
the man in handcuffs.
Staff Sergeant Al Neville said
numerous charges are pending from
Goderich OPP.
On Jan. 8, the new Bruce Munici-
pal Telephone building near
Tiverton was broken into.
The chipboard cover on -a door
was knocked in and the chain hold
• ing the door closed was broken.
Seven floor heaters worth $440
were stolen along with an $80
telephone, 50 feet of yellow exten-
sion cord and a wheel barrow also
worth about $80.
On Jan. 8 a vehicle on Wheeler
St. in Lucknow was stopped for a
loud muffler. When the vehicle was
checked, . the driver was found to
have been drinking. He was given
an Alert test and issued a •wanting.
Subsequently, he was issued a 12
last week
hotir suspension.
On Jan. 0 at 1133 a.m. a driver . <
was stopped on Highway 21 in
Kincardine Township for a High-
way Traffic Act violatipn.� The
driver was ufou& to have been
drinking,•failed;an Alert test and,
was taken back to the detachment
where a breathalyser test was.failed.
As a result, a 35 -year-old Ripley
woman was charged with driving •
with over 80 mg of alcohol in her
system.
At a RIDE check in Kinloss
Township on Jan. 9 a 19 -year-old
Auburn area man was charged with
driving with an open container of
liquor and 15 bottles of beer were
seized.
Also on Jan. 9 at 8:50 p.m. a
driver was seen weaving by OPP
officers. The vehicle was stopped
and the driver was charged with
having liquor unlawfully kept.
Thirty bottles of beer were seized.
A 21 -year-old Port Elgin man was
...given a 12 hour suspension on Jan.
9 after failing an Alert test in
' Inverhuron.
On Jan. 10, a 32 -year-old
Kincardine man was charged with
driving with over 80 mg of"alcohol
in his system after passing through
a RIDE check on County Road 23
of Kincardine Township.

given' on Jan. 10 at 6:45 p.m. after
a 33 -year-old Ripley man issued a
"warn" on an Alert Test. He . was
also charged with , having liquor

Esso penalty free sweepstakes returns
Once again, the encouragement of
skills, safety and sportsmanship will
be emphasized as former Team
Canada and National Hockey
League • star Paul Henderson
announced that the Esso Penalty
Free Sweepstakes will be returning
for its sixth year. The program runs
from January 1 through February'7,
1993.
"Over the previous five years,
almost 17,000 teams have demon-
strated that they can play penalty
free hockey," remarked Henderson,
who was on hand for the media
conference to launch the 1993 Esso
Penalty Free Sweepstakes. "On top
of that, 64 percent of those teams •
either won or tied their penalty free.
game. ' To me, this program. is a
winnerfor everyone and I'm proud
to be a part of it!"
Developed by the members of the
Hockey Development Centre for
Ontario to encourage skills, safety
and sportsmanship, the program is
sponsored by Imperial Oil Limited
and supported by the Ontario Min-
istry of Tourism and Recreation.
Last year's contest yielded a record
number of 4,500 entries, with over
65,000 players of all. • ages in
Ontario participating.
During the contest period, any
amateur hockey team in Ontario
that plays a penalty free game can
enter the sweepstakes by submitting
an entry form and a copy of the
game sheet signed by a qualified
official, The entire team will be
enteredinto the contest and each
player will received an Achieve-
ment •Certificate acknowledging
their team's penalty free play. In
addition, several teams will have
the opportunity to win a number of
prize's, 'including: Bauer Precision
In=Line Skates, I -Tech Helmets and
Face Masks, --Wayne Gretzky's NHL
All Star Hockey Game, Pro Level
Aluminum Hockey Sticks, Viceroy
Practice Ice Boards, Penny Hockey
games, and tickets to tate 1993
CIAU Nationals.
