PG. 26 THE RURAL VOICE, NOVEMBER 1983
The Ontario Milk Marketing Board
proposed to promote cooking with
milk with their "Cook Milk in Any
Flavour You Like" cookbook. This
would be promoted in the 1984 milk
calendar and in consumer magazines
and/or direct mail recipe booklets.
The promotion will run until about
the end of next year.
The Ontario Turkey Producers'
Marketing Board proposed to pro-
duce three tabloids entitled "Turkey
Talk" for distribution in Ontario
retail stores. The board would also
promote Ontario turkey through con-
sumer talks, joint product promo-
tion, television demonstrations and
radio interviews. The time period for
the promotion is April 1983 until
April 1984.
The Bradford Carrot Growers'
Association proposed to promote car-
rots grown in the Bradford area
through bulletins to retail produce
buyers and consumer representatives,
recipe pamphlets, posters, adver-
tisements and the development of a
special Bradford carrot logo for use
on packages. This promotion runs
from September 1983 to May 1984.
The ministry's Foodland Ontario
program provides grants, based on
the group's total budget, of one-third
of the first $50,000, one-quarter of
the balance up to $240,000 and a ceil-
ing of $60,000 on budgets over
$240,000.
Ontario marketing boards, in-
stitutes, councils, commissions and
commodity groups are eligible for
this assistance up to a maximum of
$60,000 in any fiscal year for any one
food product or group of food pro-
ducts.
Only Ontario -grown fresh or pro-
cessed agricultural food products are
eligible for the grants covering such
marketing activities as media adver-
tising, point-of-sale promotion, retail
merchandising, promotional material
and public relations.
At the end of the promotion, the
group submits invoices for their costs
to the ministry's market development
branch and the final amount of the
grants are determined.
Last year, grants under the
Foodland Ontario shared -cost pro-
gram totalled over $480,000.0
