Royal Bank plans financial conference
Foreseeing a rapidly increasing
need for improved farm manage-
ment, The Royal Bank of Canada will
bring together prominent Canadian
speakers and key agricultural players
at a three-day agricultural financial
management conference to be held in
Halifax November 7 to 9.
H. D. McRorie, vice—president,
agricultural services for the bank,
says that farm financial management
skills will become increasingly impor-
tant as Canadian farmers continue to
face high world production levels and
relatively weak farm commodity
prices at least in the near term.
The conference is designed to ex-
plore innovative methods of dealing
with farm planning, farm credit
analysis and farm credit monitoring,
using the latest in micro -computer
technology.
Although the major focus on the
conference will be on farm financial
management techniques and
strategies with respect to credit use,
McRorie indicates that the final halt
day will be devoted to an agricultural
outlook session aimed at assisting
delegates in the task of planning and
analyzing 1984 production plans.
Key resource personnel from across
Canada, supplemented by Royal
Bank staff, will address the con -

ference and take part in the program.
Workshop sessions have been plann-
ed to enable participants to apply the
principles and procedures presented
to specific farm situations using case
studies and on-site micro -computers.
In addition to farmers, those in-
vited to attend the workshop will in-
clude representatives from farm
organizations, the agri-business sec-
tor, universities and government
agencies. In view of the developmen-
tal nature of the workshops, atten-
dance will be primarily by invitation.
Provision has been made, however,
for a limited number of additional
registrants.

ed from Royal Bank Agricultural Ser-
