off the July meeting by planning a
membership drive on August 30-31
and Sept. 1 when 5 fieldmen will be
available.
Mary Lou Weiser took pictures for
Rural Voice to use in the Federation's
Farm News and Annual Report.
The Royal Bank would not attend a
Bankers' Night but did suggest a
meeting with a smaller group. They
will be invited to the September direc-
tors' meeting.
Barry Tolton, OMAF Ag. Rep.,
Markdale suggested something
should be done for Agri -Food Week
October 3 to 10. Posters should be
up in supermarkets, libraries and
mall. OMAF is operating on 2/3 of
last years budget, so, many cuts have
to be made in staff and services. Rick
Upfold, soils and crop specialist, is
leaving OMAF for the University of
Guelph in Crop Sciences. He will not
be replaced at this time. Zenith calls
are very costly so use only when
necessary. Colin Reesor has joined
the Markdale office as Farm Business
advisor. Jack Westlake of Belleville
replaces Dawn Wert as Farm
Management specialist. Dan Rose is
Regional Manager at Orangeville.
Barry said the beginning farmer pro-
gram is at a standstill as F.C.C. is out
of money.
A resolution will be sent to OFA
protesting the lack of funds at OMAF
and requesting their support as many
of the programs will be held up due to
lack of funds and staff.

be banned. Many older engines can't
run on unleaded gasoline.
Perhaps older engines could be
modified to use unleaded gasoline or
unleaded gasoline be modified for the
older engines. A resolution was
presented asking OFA to reconvene
the Emergency Task Force on
Agriculture since agriculture is being
neglected by government. This
resolution was referred to OFA Ex-
ecutive for further action. Another
resolution asking for extension of
daylight saving was lost. Brian
Ireland a Bruce County OFA director
is in hospital with a heart attack. We
all wish him a speedy recovery.
A Euphrasia township ISM attend-
ed the directors meeting. His car was
damaged by fire and he needed help
negotiating with the insurance corn-
pany. Doug Gowanlock will try to
help him.
A letter from Dufferin County re
Niagara Escarpment was passed to
the Properties Committee for a
follow-up. They will contact MPP
Bob McKessock for clarification.
Osprey Township asked for sup-
port of their resolution opposing the
M3 Hydro route. This was filed as we
represent 16 Townships and many of
these could be affected.
OFA is setting up an educational
trust fund for the children of Ron
Jones. The directors of Grey Federa-
tion voted to give $100.00 to the
fund.
A ratepayers group took over the
Hydro meeting on August 2 at
Alliston. Babes in arms, small
children and teenagers crammed into
a room set up for the working group
and a few spectators. Since the agen-
da couldn't be covered, another
meeting must be held. Several times
the rate -payers made threats to sue
the working group members if the
corridor was in sight of their proper-
ty. Dave Abbott, the senior Hydro
official was called a liar.
Remember Grey Federation of
agriculture's Annual Meeting, Ban-
quet and Dance, October 15 in the
Shallow Lake Community Centre.

OMAF Board room at 8 P.M. The
