The Rural Voice, 1983-09, Page 22FARM NEWS Swiss Farmers get together to celebrate their National Day Bruno and Joyce Braecker are seen here with Wily Keller in the center, waiting for the special Swiss sausage (made in New Hamburg) to finish cooking. Earlier in the day a big black pot of homemade soup (special Swiss recipe which Rural Voice is trying to get) had been cooked up --- enough for everyone to have a free serving. Soup is a national dish in Switzerland. The driveshed on the Braecker farm was decorated with flags from each Canton in Switzerland and a large mural of a Swiss mountain scene hung on one wall. The day started with an ecumenical church service with Dr. Jakob Amstutz of the University of Guelph giving the ser- mon. An excellent choir under the direction of Yolande Graf from Mit- chell provided the music for the ser- vice and afterwards sang several Swiss songs which included yodelling. They were accompanied by a four piece brass ensemble also from Mit- chell. What does "FARMER" spell?
