designed broom
An all -Canadian housewares manufac-
turer, Viking Brush Ltd., has made a com-
mitment to designing its products along
scientific, ergonomic principles.
Ergonomic design makes for ease, com-
fort, and efficiency of use, taking into ac-
count human shapes, movements, and
motor skills; it maximizes on the transfer
of energy from the user, while minimizing
user fatigue. Ergonomic principles have
taken a firm foothold in the workplace.
The most recent of Viking's products to
benefit from this design concept are two
unique poly corn brooms -- one for indoor
use, and one with stiff bristles for outdoor
work. Their quality is assured by a full
one-year written guarantee. The Viking po-
ly corn broom is the only broom on the
market to carry a guarantee.
The Viking poly corn broom is also the
first and only one to be designed with
short bristles -- bristles that are exactly

the right length for optimum flexibility and
flick. Viking uses an innovative and
patented process for inserting the bristles
into the webbed plastic broom base,
which ensures they are the precise length
required every time. Inserted into the base
during the injection moulding process
while the plastic is still hot, the bristles
are also virtually heat welded in place,
significantly reducing bristle loss during
normal wear and tear.
With all its advantages, the Viking poly
corn broom is still, however, very com-
petitively priced.

SYNOVEX withdrawal period removed
Canadian cattlemen will no longer have to wait the mandatory
70 days before marketing cattle that have been implanted with
SYNOVEX H or SYNOVEX S growth promotant implants.
The ;anadian Bureau of Veterinary Drugs (B.V.D.) removed the
withdrawal period after reviewing data submitted by the manufac-
turer, Syntex Corp. The decision of the B.V.D. to remove the
withdrawal period echoes that of the Food and Drug Administra-
tion (F.D.A.) in the U.S.A., a few months ago. To cattlemen, a no
withdrawal period means that they will be able to use SYNOVEX
implants up to the time they market their cattle.
The B.V.D. have also approved the use of SYNOVEX implants in
steer calves from 400 !b. to finishing. Previously producers could
only implant SYNOVEX S in steers weighing 600 Ib. or more.

ed without it. It is a pliable clip in three
parts which can be tightened to any ap-
propriate diameter between 1 cm and 10
cm. The Multi -Clip can also be linked with
others to cater to larger diameters.
It is non -corroding and consists of a
strap of white, tough nylon and a shoulder
and nut in black nylon. It secures any ob-
ject without jamming, no tools are re-
quired and it is always reusable. It would
be invaluable in any emergency. as a
