The Blyth Memorial Hall stage was
alive with actors and actresses a few
weeks early this year. No, the regular
Summer theatre season hasn't started
without you. The Huron County Junior
Farmers hosted the provincial Drama
Fest.
Six plays were presented by Huron,
Bruce, Perth, Wellington, Waterloo and
Middlesex counties.
Just like the Academy Awards in Los
Angeles this year one production seemed
to clean up the majority of awards.
Middlesex won the best play for their
rendition of 'Sorry Wrong Number' and
ON STAGE
also won in the best director and best
actress categories.
Waterloo, with their Agatha Christie
production of 'Rats' won best actor and
supporting actor and best set while the
Perth group won best supporting actress
with their plan.
Bryan Williams, Sharon Telfer and Les
Falconer were the co-ordinators of the
event which was completed with a dance
in Hensall where the winners were
announced.
The greatest problem that faced the
organizers was keeping provincial direc-

tors abreast of the activities and organi-
zational needs. Williams pointed out that
the Provincial Junior Farmers is staffed
and assisted through the Ontario Minis-
try of Food and Agriculture which has
moved their offices to Guelph. Between
the move which has caused some
problems and the ministry's cutbacks in
funding and staff, particularly in non-
profit areas like the Junior Farmers,
communication between directors and
counties is suffering.
But that didn't dampen the day. Some
groups were at the hall at the crack of
dawn with huge vans filled with their
