TWO NEW MINERAL MIXES
Ralston Purina Canada introduces
two new mineral mixes in a line
expansion move.
The first of two new products is
Sheep Mineral, a no -added -copper
blend of micro and macro minerals to
be fed free -choice to Iambs, ewes and
rams. The second is Range and Pasture
Mineral for Beef Cattle, designed spe-
cially for ruminants on pasture: It
contains a 10mg/kg level of selenium
and a high level of magnesium to
prevent grass -tetany problems.
The two new products bring the
Purina Mineral product line to a total of
seven, including three dairy minerals;
two cattle minerals; a sheep mineral
and a hog mineral.
"Research tells us that the best
approach towards mineral feeding is to
offer all the animal's requirements
through the grain ration," Marketing
Manager Larry Kupecz says. "Once this
is done, offering a quality balanced
mineral blend free -choice will allow for
a small intake of additional mineral."
This offers a low-cost "insurance
against mineral deficiencies," Kupecz
adds, "because of possible variations in
individual animal mineral requirements
and roughages." He goes on to explain,
"I've got to make it clear though that
the first step is to satisfy all the
animal's requirements through the grain
ration since animals can't select the
correct ingredients to satisfy their min-
eral nutrient requirements."
The ingredients used have been test-
ed for RBV (Relative Biological Value)
which offers an excellent value in the
mineral blend because the animals can
use the nutrients efficiently.
PREMIUM QUALITY,
EARLY SOYBEAN SEED
C & M Seeds offers growers the very
best in high performance, vigour tested
early soybeans.
The company is owned and operated
by the Cameron and McLaughlin fami-
lies of North Wellington County. These
growers pioneered soybean production
in the early areas of midwestern Onta-
rio. Because they control every aspect
of seed production, from growing the
crop right through to bagging scrupu-
lously cleaned seed for final sale, the C
& M brand provides assurance of top
quality Certified soybeans.
C & M Seeds specializes in the
production and processing of Certified
Maple Amber, Maple Arrow and Evans
soybeans. The company's seed proces-
sing plant incorporates two state-of-the-
art specific gravity separations for re-
moval of damaged and diseased beans.
C & M soybeans are very com-
petitively priced. Demand for early ma-
turing soybean varieties is very strong.
"With the development of an eastern
Ontario dealer network, top quality C &
M soybeans are now available to grow-
ers in all of the Province's early to
mid-season zones," points out Norris
McLaughlin.
C & M Seeds also markets popular
SeCan and public cereal varieties, plus
a complete line-up of crop chemicals
and soybean inoculants. The company
is equipped to fill large volume orders
for bagged cereal seed and seed hand-
ling facilities for large acreage growers.
