Looks like computers are here to stay
They're not a fad after all.
Gregor Campbell was suffering from "compu-
ter burn -out," if that's possible, after checking
out different computer information programs for
our main feature this month. He looked at
different systems being developed at the pre-
sent time and outlines several factors to
consider before purchasing a computer for your
farm.
To round out her story on "This Little Pig
went to Market" [page 12], writer Rhea Hamil-
ton "went to market" herself, to a processing
plant in Kitchener to complete her article —
following an animal through the chain of
farmers, buyers, and processors before it finally
arrives on the table.
To find out what a machinery tech centre
"really is", The Rural Voice went to the Ontario
Centre for Farm Machinery and Food Proces-
sing Technology in Chatham. March being
"Good Seed Month". we listed the five grades
of pedigreed seed on page 41. On this same
theme, we have a feature particularly for the
"green thumbs" or "never -say -die" people -
growing your plants from seed. Think I'll give it
one more try.
Filling pages with interesting meetings and
events is easy. There's so many things going on
- wheat meetings, pork annuals, commodity
seminars. You'll find it all in the news section.
See you next month.
