Orchestra kept everyone on their feet to round out a pleasant
evening. Head table guests were Merle and Sheila Gunby, Bob
and Mary McKessock, Don and Mary Harvie, Don and Ruth Hill
and Marshall and Bessie Saunders. Representatives from Huron,
Simcoe and Wellington Federations of Agriculture were present.
The 3 regional directors were introduced, Bill Pullen, Clay
Schwegler and Arnold Oliver, as were the township presidents.

those townships which are not paying their share. As well as the
directors per diems and mileage , there is also the presidents
expenses, the vice presidents' expenses and the office expenses
which should be shared by every township federation.
The Saturday mail delivery is a problem we are working on. If
we have to submit to 5 day delivery, we would prefer Saturday
delivery and skip Monday. Holidays usually fall on Monday
therefore the Saturday paper would be delivered on Tuesday. The
Sun Times is delivered to post offices that are open on Saturday
but some post masters refuse to give them to the subscriber
because they are not delivered in alphabetical order. One small
post office gets 80 Sun Times papers bundled in rural routes.
The hydro corridor is going through Grey County. When we
know what districts are involved we will set up a committee to
help the property owner get a fair settlement. We urge everyone
to use caution when dealing with hydro. Hopefully, property
owners will stick together to get equitable treatment.
Merle Gunby, OFA executive member, brought congratula-
tions to the new OFA directors and thanked Ruth Hamill and
Murray Clarke for their dedication as past OFA directors. Merle
advised that OFA was supporting the Agri Bond idea rather than
indexed borrowing. OFA is looking into the concerns of eastern
farmers re wheat prices should the Crow Rate structure be
changed. OFA is trying to pressure Frank Miller into pushing
through the proposed Property Taxation program which is not
popular in this county.
