Smelski as the Co-ordinator.
This will be the IOth Pork Congress and
past president, Bill Nahrgang urged all
pork producers in southwestern Ontario
to come forward and volunteer to help
improve the pork industry in Ontario.
Anyone interested in working on a Pork
Congress committee can call Jean Smcl4i
at 625-8811. The Chairmen of most of the
committees were appointed at the annual
meeting.
Some discussion took place regarding
changing the name to the Canadian Pork
Congress, but a motion to register this
name with the government for possible
future use was defeated.
The Trade Development Committee of
the Ontario Pork Congress has spent
$56,353. to date in an attempt to open up
overseas markets for Ontario Breeding
stock. This money has come from Pork
Congress revenues and from various
government programs. Chairman Ross
Wilkie explained that this money repre-
sents a long term investment and commit-
ment which will hopefully lead to
increased overseas exports from Ontario
breeders.
