Farmers are literally up to their "ears" in corn; the price
of that corn is something else and is a real concern to
farmers at this time. In this issue, we touch on the new
proposed corn association in the works, something Pat
Lynch, ONIAF Stratford says is long overdue.
But there's already a lot of different farm associations
dealing with corn on different levels. We outline some of
them in part II in our feature on corn.
OVA president Ralph Barrie spends long hours in
Toronto working for farmers - working with farmers,
lobbying for farmers. This month, the OFA convention
will be held in Toronto. For a few insights into the man
who heads OFA, the largest farm organization in Ontario,
see page I 2.
We're staring a new feature this month. John l)ePutter,
well known for his commentary on farm economic news
will give us "World Market Perspective" on a regular
basis, -- some insights on world events and political
developments affecting commodity prices.
Christmas time. .lust around the corner and rapidly
approaching. For the festive season, the Rural living
section is about houses -- gingerbread houses that is. Pat
Martin from (;oderich shares her recipes and plans with
The Rural Voice.
This month, lots of people in the news, lots of activities
in Country Calendar and lots of issues in the farm
organizations' newsletters.
Rushed for time? Take the Rural Voice with you to
read while waiting in line with your corn at the elevators.
See you next month.
