The five regions of Huron County held one Regional meeting.
President Gerry Fortune opened the meeting by welcoming
everyone. Minutes of last year's Regional meeting was read by the
Secretary, accepted on a motion by Tony McQuail, seconded by
Andy Durand. Carried.
No business from the minutes.
The five Regional Directors gave their reports from their areas.
Merle Gunby, Huron Northwest:
Merle mentioned the OFA Task Force which was formed this past
year, the interest rate assistance program and the brief that OFA
President Ralph Barrie had presented to the House of Commons
banking committee.
Andy Durand, Huron South:
Andy talked on the small business development bond, and how
there is now more money available to the Farm Credit
Corporation to farmers in trouble. Andy informed us of his
resignation as a Regional Director.
Jim McIntosh, Huron West Central:
Jim, on the OFA Municipal Liaison Committee, explained some
of the issues they were involved in this past year,- Wetlands
Policy, Ontario Farm Machinery Board, severances and tile
drainage programs.
Gerry Fortune, Huron Northeast:
Gerry spoke on the upcoming Convention in Toronto at the
Holiday Inn on November 22, 23, 24/82.
John Nesbit, Huron East Central:
On behalf of John who was absent, Gerry Fortune explained how
John was Membership Chairman for Huron County this past
year and the various membership drives he and the Fieldman,
Blaine Stephenson, co-ordinated.
Fieldmen's Comments:
Blaine Stephenson, Fieldman for Huron and Perth counties
explained how the elections would be conducted and the various
