CHANGES TO CONSTITUTION: Changes to Constitution:
- 3 proposed changes were presented, however, due to lack of a
quorum of ISM's present these changes had to be declared
null and void.
Ethanol still:
Phil Durand, a Zurich area farmer was guest speaker telling of
the operation of his families' ethanol plant. He welcomed the
public to tour it if he is contacted ahead of time.
OFA "Proposal" on Grain Corn Association:
if accepted, objectives would be:
1. To encourage, promote and to assist in the development of
the grain corn industry in Ontario.
2. To be the spokesman for the commercial grain corn
producers in Ontario and to lobby and negotiate on their
behalf with governments, industry and the grain trade.
3. To monitor production, usage and commercial trade in
grain corn and be informed of policy and other
developments affecting the industry.
4. To inform and educate producers of trends and develop-
ments in the industry so as to enable them to make
considered decisions regarding the production and mar-
keting of their corn crop.
5. To negotiate on behalf of producers fair tariffs for drying,
handling and storage of grain corn.
6. To lobby and negotiate with governments for policies and
programs that will bring greater financial stability and
economic benefits to producers.
7. To develop and administer programs that will bring greater
financial stability and economic benefits to producers.
Membership: open to any bona -fide grain corn producer in
Ontario who in any one of the preceding three crop years
produced and marketed through commercial channels not less
than 500 bushels (or 12.5 tonnes) of grain corn. Fee: $25 per
annum (or any other set agreed price), and payable at the
beginning of each calendar year.
Board of Directors
Initially the Board of Directors shall consist of five producers
who will make the application for the letters patent. The board
shall carry out the activities of the association, develop a
constitution and by-laws and shall seek ratification of the
constitution and by-laws by the membership at an appropriate
time. The chairman shall be a member of the board and shall be
chosen at a meeting of the board.
