MINUTES of the MEETING
In the absence of President Gerry Fortune. 1st Vice Pres. Tony
McQuail chaired the meeting.
Minutes of the last general meeting were approved as
circulated in the Rural Voice on a motion by Jim McIntosh.
seconded by Merle Gunby. Carried.
Merle Gunby reported on a meeting held on May 19 of several
prominent farm leaders from across Canada and Finance Minister
McEachen to request more money for Farm Credit. No immediate
results were available that day.
Dale Knight, President of Grey Twp. introduced Dale Ferns.
Director of Policy Department at OFA office in Toronto. Dale
spoke on the benefits of being an ISM, explained the different
OFA committees formed of people from all the counties in
Ontario, and answered questions from the audience. Dale was
thanked by Ross Hemingway.
Bev Brown, introduced Dave Ransley, a university student who
along with another student had made a short film on three farm
families in Huron and Bruce county who are having problems over
the economic situation today. The film was titled "Broken
Dreams". Dave was thanked appropriately by Mary Beth Mann.

Huron County sends 3 delegates + the regional director from
each of the 5 ISM areas to the Annual OFA Convention in
November, and whereas OFA is looking for ideas to cut down on
convention costs.
Therefore be it resolved that each ISM arca be allowed only 2
delegates + the regional director to convention; therefore cutting
down hotel accommodations. meals and travelling expenses by 25
per cent....referred from May 20 executive meeting...moved by
Stan McLlwain, seconded by Doug Garniss...motion lost.
Plowing Match ....letter from Middlesex Federation of
Agriculture requesting volunteers to help. a S300 donation from
HCFA. and a representative to attend a meeting in London on
June 22. 1982 to make further plans for the Match....motion by
Bev Brown. seconded Doug Garniss to refer this to the Dir. Mtg.
on June 17. Carried.
County Manure By -Law: County meeting to be held on June 17.
County council was to forward a draft copy of by-law to us for
study. so far we have not received it. Jim McIntosh to check on
this. Referral motion by Bev Brown to turn this matter over to the
Municipal Liaison Committee. providing the Executive makes
sure there is a strong representation of HCFA at that meeting and
that immediate action he taken to get this special committee
re -activated, sec. by Merle Gunby. Carried.
