Luke always ran away and Bo didn't. It
seemed as though they had changed.
The Lucknow Fall Fair rolled around
before I wanted it to.
We got up. walked them around the
field four or five times then washed them,
cleaned their hooves, curried and combed
them.
We then had to bed the truck so they
would be comfortable and kept clean. We
had to take brushes, combs. water to wash
them and water pails.
We had to be there at 11:00 o'clock. We
received a hat with a number on it. and a
place to tie your calf up.
At 2:30 we started the competition.
There was a sporstmanship category and
Best Looking Calf category.
Luke received third in the first prize
group and Luke got one in the second prize
group in the Best Looking Calf.

Later on that year Luke was sold for 88
cents per pound. My memories of Luke of
that year, of the time we spent together
still linger on with me wherever I am.
