The Rural Voice, 1982-06, Page 14The Land of Peace I went back to our creek. Just to get away from the house. Our creek is Just in front of our bush. I hadn't been back there for such a long time. Things had changed completely. The Bridge was almost washed out. It was so quiet, no cars, trucks and tractors roaring around I had been there Just last fall and the water was polluted, the grass was dying along with the trees and all the animals had left. Now nature had a firm grip on things, Everywhere you looked trees were filled, birds with many nests and green leaves. The creek filled and overflowing with fresh clean pure water and many fish. The grass was green and fresh. I saw some fox, deer and a wolf. The rabbits, squirrels and groundhogs ran freely and were unafraid. There were so many flowers of different colours I was afraid to sit down for fear I might crush something. But Instead I read and soaked my hot feet. It was like a fairy-tale hand, peaceful except for a Blue Jay overhead. So I walked on and on in silence with only the birds singing. But all too soon I had to start back home. I would never forget this peaceful place and I premised myself that. Angela Coultes, 12 Tammle Kuntz, 12 Leslie Reid, 13 Mother's Big Adventure One day in Listowel at the farm Jeff my brother came into the living room to tell my mom the pigs were loose. So mom ran to the window and sure enough the pigs were running all over the place. Mom had her white jeans on. Mom thought do I wreck my white jeans or do we loose 20 pigs? So mom ran out to those pigs. They ran everywhere. They ran through the manure pile and the muddy fields and there went mom after them. them. She ran everywhere after those pigs. Of course Jeff just laughed. Mom finally got them back in their pens. Mom's pants were wrecked then when dad got home he wanted to know where supper was. Mom had to tell him the whole story. c 9 G Generatorsi0 WE HAVE A COMPLETE LINE OF PORTABLE P.T.O., DIESEL, GAS, AUTOMATIC GENERATORS STAND-BY .N.T. POWER INC.
