Grey federation
does not favour route 3
The April issue of Rural Voice states in huge headlines
"Grey favours route 3". Grey County Federation of
Agriculture DOES NOT favour route 3. We have been
represented at the Hydro meetings from the start. and we
do not want the hydro lines through our county. We are
mainly in mixed farming and our land and our woodlots are
very important to us. The Department of Agriculture
"which is a different organization" apparently favours the
route through Grey. The Property and Taxation Committee
will meet soon to discuss the hydro problem.
Bob Boyle, Director of Member and Field Services for
OFA was present at the March meeting of Grey Federation.
He outlined the problems OFA has with a computer that is

Grey is down by several members. but membership drives
are continuing. He passed around a survey sheet on
insurance.

meeting. The OFA Tax Committee brought in the report of
Property Taxation of Farms and Management Woodlots.
Under this new proposal the gross production criteria would
be increased from $5000-$12000. OFA recommended that
56000 be the production criteria. Receipts from livestock
sales could be included only if the livestock were resident on
the farm for a specified number of days. An amendment will
be introduced in 1982 whereby farm residences will be
assessed the same as other residences. The Grey County
Property and Taxation committee will study this proposal.
All federation members should write the Ministers of
Finance and Agriculture and Food objecting to the
colouring of diesel fuel.
