THE YOUNG FARMER
Bruce Junior Farmers
win drama awards
The Province of Ontario Dramafest gave
Bruce County Junior Farmers top honors
for their play "Chinaman". The director,
Peter Woodhall, a high school teacher in
Kincardine, received the award for best
director. Best actor went to James Watson
of Kincardine and best actress went to
Shannon McConnell of Armow, Ont. The
Bruce County Junior Farmers were elated
with these awards and felt amply
rewarded for the effort and energy
expended with this kind of recognition.
Mary Farrell, of Ripley, is secretary -
treasurer for the Bruce County Junior
Farmer Association. Mary attended the
Provincial Junior Farmer's Conference in
Hamilton at the end of March, and
reported that the conference was aimed at
enthusiasm and motivation. The motto of
the conference was "In action to -day, for a
challenge tomorrow" and gave the
participants a positive attitude in what
they are doing and this in turn should
encourage future memberships.
Two of the larger trips awarded to
Junior Farmers we: t to Bruce County:
Betty Clark was awarded a nine week trip
to the United Kingdom. Betty is from
Kincardine Township. Mary Eadie, of
Holyrood was awarded the one week trip
to Indiana, U.S.A.
This year, the Bruce County Association
is again hosting an exchange program
with Grey County. Last year members of
thf, Grey County Junior Farmers were
'.nvited to Bruce County and this year
about twenty to twenty-five Bruce County
Junior Farmers will be guests of Grey
County. Mary Farrell felt that this kind of
exchange, in your own area prompted
good public relations for the clubs and a
healthy exchange of ideas.
