"Most of those people are just simply lousy housekeepers," he says. "They should all meet the standards with no trouble if they just make up their mind. But it requires some discipline." Brent says the cost to meet Grade A standards should be minimal for most of the Group 11 producers. "My dad always said it costs less to keep things clean" he says. "and 1 think that if the premises are cleaned daily and consistently the costs have to be minor." Brent also says he and his field staff are not looking to shut off producers. They would rather work with them to help them meet the standards, increase their quotas and improve their operations. Brent believes they're all playing in the same game. Allan. the new deputy minister of agriculture and food is a native of North Easthope Township in Perth County. A graduate of Queen's and the University of Toronto. Mr. Allan joined the Ontario government in 1961 ascan economist, and during the period 1968 to 1978 was chief architect of the province's budget and taxation policy. In September 1978, Mr. Allan was appointed assistant deputy minister with the Ontario Ministry of Industry and Tourism.
