knows.
I never plan for more than a few
years," says the articulate Moss, "but
I'd like to work as a volunteer in an
underdeveloped region, not in a business
sense. I'd like to go back to the tropics."
The Moss family members who were
born outside Canada now have applied
for Canadian citizenship, though Joe says
they are torn about taking the oath of
loyalty to the queen. "I believe your stake
is in the country where you are. I
probably share Trudeau's ideas on
internationalism. I think I'm still a good
Irishman but I think I realize it's not the
end-all and be-all."
You would never know it by eating his
strawberries or black currents, but the
unconventional farmer has never been
more interestingly packaged than in the
person of Joe Moss. When he says, "I
couldn't do it any other way," you tend to
believe him.
