Pullen attends Paris conference
President Gerry Fortune opened the meeting by asking for the
approval of last month's meeting as printed in the Rural Voice,
motion by John VanBeers. seconded by Bev Brown. Carried.
Andre Durand of Hay Township introduced guest speaker
Don Pullen, Ag. Rep for Huron County. Don showed slides on his
October 1980 trip to Paris, France where he attended a
conference on "Organization" for Economic Co-operation and
Development of theDirectorate for Food, Agriculture and
Fisheries". The theme of the conference was 'Adjustment of
Agriculture Advisory Services in the Tight of Social, Economic
and Technical Changes called for in Agriculture and Society in
the 1980 s and the years to come.' The conference was held Oct.
19 - 24, 1980 in Paris, France, the headquarters for the
conference which is held every 3 years, having been established
in 1957. There were 47 delegates attending, from 24 different
countries.
This was quite an honor for Don to attend as there were only 2
persons from Canada attending. the other being Ralph Cotterill.
from Agriculture Canada, Ottawa. (Ralph was also a former
classmate of Don's from Guelph Agricultural days.)
Mr. Simantov, the head of *OECD's quotation for tomorrow .
. ' How to Master the Probable and Manage the
Unpredictable."
Don was thanked by Paul Klopp, President of Hay Twp.
Accompanying Don was John Heard, a new assistant at the
Ministry of Agriculture and Food for Huron County.
Bev. Brown then presented Paul Klopp of Hay Twp. with a
gavel and stand tor Hay Twp. recruiting the most new members
on a net increase in 1980... 26 members.

A resolution was read from Hullett Twp. Fed. of Agric., moved
and seconded that this resolution be referred to the Huron
County Bd. of Directors meeting on May 28, 1981. Carried.
A letter from Murray Elston thanking us for inviting him to our

he can in the future.
