The Rural Voice, 1981-06, Page 8ids' contest results The response to the Rural Voice's Art, Story and Poetry competition has been overwhelming in most age groups. There have been hundreds of replies from all four counties and the editors would like to thank all participants. In the senior group, 16-18 years, Michelle Batt e, 18, of R.R. 3, Walkerton won first prize in the poetry competition with her poem, "A Farmer". Due to the small response, the editors decided not to include the art and story competitions. The second group, 9-15 years, had the greatest participation. In the poetry competition, Christine Ward, 12, of R.R. 4, Meaford won first prize for her poem, "The Family Farm". Angela Millian, 11, of R.R. 3, Auburn, won second and Rodney Husk, 10, won third with "On the Farm". Honourable Mention goes to Paul Pentland, 14, of R.R. 6, Goderich for "Which, Farm or City". The (9-15) story competition's first place was won by Linda McInnes, 15, of R.R. 3, Teeswater, for "Family Farms". Second prize went to "A Day on the Farm" by Kent Campbell, 10, of R.R. 4, Kincardine. Third prize winner was Wayne McConnell, 13, of R.R. 2, Auburn for "Why I am glad I don't live on a Farm." Doug Tyler, 12, of R.R. 1, Lucknow won first place in the (9-15) art competition. In second place was Josiah Weber, 14, R.R. 4, Listowel and in third place was Andrew McDonald of Woodstock. Honourable mention went to Larissa Biesenthal, R.R. 3, Walkerton; Scott Biesenthal, R.R. 3, Walkerton, Jeffrey Ireland, R.R. 7 Lucknow, Laura Johns, R.R. 2 Auburn and Elizabeth Johnston, Atwood. There were no winners in the (5-8) poetry competition. The first prize in the (5-8) story competition was won by Angie Reed, 8, of Seaforth. Second place went to Judy Lane, 8, of R.R. Holyrood for "My Farm" and third place went to Marita MacDougall, 7, of R.R. 5, Lucknow. The (5-8) art competition was won by Cailin Rachel Clarke, 7, of R.R. 5, Lucknow. Second place went to Dawn Juergens, 8, of Goderich and third place to Jennifer Horne of Seaforth. Honourable mention went to Linda Stobo, 5, of Teeswater. PG. 6 THE I URAL VOICE/JUNE 1981
