The Rural Voice, 1981-05, Page 7LETTERS Let's be ready with solutions In regard to Gerry Fortune's report on the Agri conference called by the Hon. Lorne Henderson at the beginning of February. It seems to me that she is altogether too negative. It is after all our job to change government attitude toward agriculture and we ought to grab every opportunity that presents itself to us. We must take a positive attitude if we want to achieve that goal. The speakers at the conference LE ere supposed to supply us with information to make it easier for us to come up with informed recommendations and 1 believe they accomplished that. To have their prepared speeches on hand for reference made it easier for us to come to intelligent decisions. It was the syndicates (workshops) at the end of the of the conference that were our forum. Two sets of questions were handed out. It would have been more effective if each workshop would either have had more time to deal with these questions or if these questions could have been split into four sets. But we did have the option to deal with subjects of our own choosing. If we did not get our views across we have only ourselves to blame. A super saleslady like Gerry should not have had any trouble making her point. The summations we have received since indicate. I believe, that we did fairly well. We still have the option of ‘vriting the Minster about our concerns and we should exercise it. If we are ready to criticize we better be ready with better solutions and present them at every. opportunity. Sincerely yours John Giese Grey County An exceptional magazine for the whole family We were given several back copies of the Rural Voice and find it an exceptional magazine with something for all the family. We just live on the next Concession from ARDA and have sold hay to start the cattle off in the spring there. The recipes are wonderful. I'd like to see one for Honey Fruit Cake.
