Representatives of The Ministry of Natural
Resources will be present to discuss the Pits
and Quarries Act particularly as it effects
farm pit operators. Members of The Huron
County Federation Property and Land Use
Committee will be present to listen to
Farmers, concerns on this matter.

Minutes of the December Meeting
The Dec. Meeting of HCFA was held Thursday, Dec. 6, 1980
at 8:30 p.m at the East Wawanosh Public School in Belgrave,
with approximately 65 in attendance.
Pres. Gerry Fortune welcomed everyone. The agenda was
presented and approved on a motion by John Van Beers,
seconded b\ John Nesbitt. Carried.
The minutes of the last monthly meeting were approved as
printed in Rural Voice on a motion by Deanne Dickson, seconded
by Jim McIntosh. Carried.
Correspondence consisted of one letter from Hastings County
asking us to assist them in setting up a budget for their county by
explaining our Budget and Financial Procedure to them. The
letter was referred to the Finance Committee on a motion by
Tony. second by Bill Fear. Ca**ied.
President Gerry Fortune then introduced 3 guests from
Wellington County. President Brian Crawley . Gary Nelson and
George Strachan.
The meeting then broke up into the new committee groups for
the coming year and had an hour long meeting to set up
schedules and make plans for the up -coming year. The chairman
of each committee reported the results.
Resolution which came from the Properties and Land Use
Committee is as follows: "Whereas the siteing and control of
gravel pits is of concern to farmers all across Ontario - Therefore
be it resolved that OFA study the pre )osed Aggregates Bill and
inform County Federations of its adv ntages and disadvantages
and Be it further resolved that the JFA carefully monitor the
Bill's Progress." Moved by Gordon Hill seconded by Jim Hunter
Carried. - to be sent to OFA Boar. Director Meeting Decemk

Following committee reports - delegates from Convention
reported on different discussion papers and resolutions that had
been brought up and discussed at Convention.
Two membership canvasses being held in Huron County in
McKillop Township. Dec. 9-10-11; West Wawanosh Township,

Public speaking course offered
The Effective Public Speaking Course will be offered again by
Huron County Federation of Agriculture in co-operation with
Conestoga College. The dates are 3 consecutive Saturdays,
January 24, 31 and Feb. 7 in Clinton at the OMAF board room -
Times 9-4. The instructor is Eric Clark from Cambridge. This
course is offered free because of the Training in Business and
Industry program and we qualify as self - employed farmers.
Everyone is invited to register for this course. Please contact
Brenda McIntosh or Fran McQuail. before Jan. 8. 1981.
