COMMENT
Read and remember with us
Christmas is a time for remembering. And there's a lot in this
issue of Rural Voice that we hope will strike a responsive chord in
our readers.
So we'd suggest you take some time off from the regular
hustle and hassle, sit down and given yourself an early
Christmas present: get lost in the pages of Rural Voice. Read
about Christmas concerts in the old days; about rural life as two
longtime farm wives remember it; and about the things that
make Christmas memorable for the present generation of farm
children.
But there's more than nostalgia in this December Rural Voice.
A very practical guest column by Listowel accountant Bob
Uptigrove has suggestions on reducing the 1980 income tax bite,
now. before the end of the year. And for the home wine maker,
or those who are fans of Ontario wine, our Rural Family section
has a story on two area farmers whose hobby is making wine.
This month we welcome more than 1000 new subscribers to
The Rural Voice, members of the Grey County Federation of
Agriculture, who'll be receiving their newsletter and the rest of
the magazine each month. A story on the apple harvest in that
county by Grey writer Robert Steele gives some insight into an
important crop in that region.
The Rural Voice values its special relationship with our
readers. the suggestions, ideas, praise and criticism we get from
you. Recently we had a call from a Perth County reader who was
in the middle of making one of the apple recipes from our last
issue. It didn't seem just right and she called for help. We put
her in touch with the recipes' originator and all turned out well.
That's our wish for your this Christmas season. May things all
turn out well for you and yours.
