Agricultural
education a must
In regards to the interview with me, "Centralia grads -five
years later" by Adrian Vos, I would appreciate it if you would
allow me the opportunity to "clarify" what I said.
The question was asked: Do you think that a farm boy
educated on the farm and with additional short courses has a
sufficient education to farm? I answered he would end up with
bits and pieces.
With today's high prices of farms and the need for Targe loans
of money I would highly recommend an agricultural education
for a young man who is considering to farm for a living.
Farming is risky, and an education would greatly help him to
make important decisions and reduce the odds against him.
We can learn from everyone and there is no substitute for
experience, including trust in Divine providence.
1 would appreciate it if you would print this letter. Thank you.
Sincerely
Gerald Kolkman
