This issue of Village Squire is one that
truly has something for everyone.
For the bargain hunters. and those who
like a little adventure with their shopping
we've got two stories by Alice Gibb that
tell you where to find the best in slightly
used or fascinating antique clothing in
Western Ontario. Know a store we
haven't mentioned? Drop us a line....
we'll do another survey later.
For the nature lovers. those with a yen
to get out and enjoy the area's country-
side, Stratford writer Dean Robinson has
a lyrical description of hiking the Avon
Trail, and some hard facts about the
people who established it.
Local history fanciers will enjoy Sheila
Gunby's portrait of Goderich photograph-
er R.R. Sallows and our reproductions of
some of his work.
Then sports fans can read all about the
hockey hall of fame, and a side visit to
Toronto's marine museum, in this
month's day trip to the big city.
We've got a nostalgic heritage column
about dolls in the good old days and a
business feature on an antique store that
specializes in time.
Last but not least. this May Village
Squire begins a new back page column
called Last Word. It replaces P.S. the
popular column by former Squire publish-
er Keith Roulston. Keith continues on our
editorial board. but is spending more
time on his other interests Isee this
month's Update]. We hope however to
carry an occasional short story on the
adventures of Chief Ezra McGillicuddy.
The first Last Word column is by Huron
County native Harry Boyle Isee March
1981 Village Squire]. We welcome pro-
vocative, thoughtful submissions .for
future columns
