Village Squire, 1980-09, Page 3UP FRONT Village Squire this month is full of the sights, sounds, but especially the tastes of Western Ontario. In an issue that celebrates fine food, we invite you to come along on a visit to Stratford's famous restaurant, The Church. We also found good home cooked food at Wildwood Inn near St. Marys, discovered truck stops really do have good food and searched, with mixed results, for small town Western Ontario's best hamburger. Next month Village Squire focusses on houses, old and new and their decoration, but more about that on page 39. And we don't think it's too early to mention several contests which Village Squire has lined up for our winter issues. First we are looking for a drawing for our Christmas issue cover, which should be submitted in black ink, in approximate cover size by Monday, November 3. Entries are also invited for a Christmas fiction contest. Stories should be 1000 to 2000 words and the deadline is Monday, November 3. Top winners in each area will receive $25 and publication in Village Squire. In January Village Squire is hoping to showcase the work of fine area amateur photographers. We welcome black and white 8x10 prints, of area people, scenes or events which are suitable for reproduction in the magazine. A number of prizes will be offered and the deadline for photo submissions is Monday, December 1.
