Although Wingham was
the only town in Huron
County to decrease in popu-
lation in 1979. other areas
that showed a slight decline
included HensalL Zurich and
the townships of Usborne.
Stephen. Hay. Grey. East
Wawanosh and Morris.
The statistics were recent-
ly presented to Huron
County Council by the Huron
Perth Regional Assessment
Office and showed that over-
all. the population of Huron
County grew by 553 in 1979,
to a total of 56.399.
Wingham dropped from
2.891 people in 1978 to 2.859
in 1979 while other towns in
the county all grew during
the past year. Exeter showed
the highest increase in popu-
lation with 136 more people.
Goderich had 110 more
people and the increases in
Clinton and Seaforth were 23
and 14 respectively.
The villages of Blyth.
Brussels and Hayfield all
increased by between 44 and
10 people.

AHEAD OF LAST YEAR'S

Country Playhouse recently
announced that current sub-
scription sales are 200 ahead
of last year's sales at this
time.
Phase 1 and Phase II of the
1980 subscription campaign
have produced 853 sub•
scrioers to date. he said.
Phase I was an end -of -season
campaign last year which
used an insert in the program
of the production of The
Sound of Music. Phase I1 %% as
a pre -Christmas mailing to
all previous buyers and se. -
cral householder mailings.
Phase 111, the Spring
Campaign is chaired by Mrs.
H.nie Gibbs of Parkhill and
her c..mmittee has set an
overall goal of 2.001) sub-
scriptions for 1980.
