In pursuit of fine cheeses?
Say Cheese in London is the answer for you
BY ALICE GIBB
Say Cheese, 246 Dundas Street, London,
is a restaurant dedicated to the pursuit of
eating fine cheese - from tangy English
farmhouse cheese, to slimming skim milk
cheese for the weight conscious to nippier
old Canadian cheddars served with onion
slices. Cheese lovers, people with a yen for
good natural foods and shoppers who
pursue the custom of afternoon tea,
PG. 14 VILLAGE SQUIRE/APRIL 1980
discovered Say Cheese in its infancy, and
have remained loyal customers for a
decade, joined by new converts who may
drop into the restaurant for a cup of coffee
and end up returning to sample plough-
man's lunch or desserts like orange slices
in honey cinnamon syrup or the popular
yoghurt with honey, nuts and fresh fruit.
The restaurant was opened a little more
than 10 years ago by owner Hilary
Alderson, who, according to her staff, "has
an incredible love for working with
cheese."
The first restaurant was located on
Talbot Street and cosy was the best word to
describe it, since it seated about 14 people
when first opened. The reception area
included a counter which displayed a
selection. of international cheeses which
were on sale.
