Dieting
BY SHELLEY MCPHEE
There's the grapefruit diet, the high
protein diet, the low carbohydrate diet and
the Weight Watcher's diet. There's the
Bronx Diet, Dr. Stillman's diet, Dr. Atkin's
diet and the Nine Day Wonder Diet.
Stores sell a variety of dieting aids and
foods. Bookstore shelves are loaded with
dieting books and magazine pages are
filled with articles on the latest dieting
trends.
There are hundreds of dieting choices,
but many medical researchers and doctors
feel that the basic, well rounded diet is the
best plan of all.
Dr. Anthony Ong, a London medical
doctor agrees with this and with a success
rate of over 50 per cent of his weight loss
patients. his belief may be correct.
Dr. Ong discourages the use of fad diets
and says that in the long run they won't

the patients he treats also use a different
aid in their weight loss program --
acupuncture.

America, the use of acupuncture in dieting

been using acupuncture to relieve physical
pain for over 5,000 years.
Doctors in the western world are now

relieve pain and act as a sedative where
drugs have been unable to help. Acu-
puncture is being used to ease the pain of
many health problems from neuralgia to
arthritis. It can cure impotency and is also
being successfully used as an aid in weight
loss.
Many people don't understand how
acupuncture works and only in 1975 did
doctors find the real reasons for its
success. It is now known that by inserting
needles along 12 lines that follow through
