Spotlight on
St. Mars
Just a note to let you know 1 would like to renew my
subscription to Village Squire for another 2 years, so am
enclosing $10.00. I hope that is the right amount. 1 would like to
wish you the new owners the very best of luck in running the
magazine. The last 2 issues have been so interesting. in fact all
the issues I have received could not have been more perfect, your
last issue with the write- up on the opei=a house in St. Mary s is
swell. St. Marys is my home town. You may get another good
story if you could interview a Dick and Joan McPherson who run
the M &M just across the Main Street on corner from the opera
house. I understand you are going to have a story in next issue
from Exeter Ontario. I was from that town before I got married. 1
think you will find some interesting stories there.
Yours truly
Mrs. Yule
P.S. Keep up the good work.

Received your interesting Village Squire to -day and was
pleased to see all the items of St. Marys. I have been going to
write you for sometime, I don't belong to any organization but I
do consign items to Stone Town antiques and Kirkton Collectors
Shop etc.
We have a splendid group in town called the St. Marys
Players. They produced a musical last year, Oklahoma, which
was outstanding.
This year it is Anne of Green Gables, a musical adapted by
Donald Harron and music by Norman Campbell from novel by
L.M. Montgomery. They rehearse every Sunday afternoon and
can be contacted there in the town hall. Music is supplied by the
Stone Town musicians. Tickets are almost sold out but there are
always cancellations. Thought you might be interested.
