More and more people are getting concerned that the
overweight, under -active lifestyle of the average Canadian is
dumb. if not downright dangerous.
These people are getting interested in nutrition, in sensible
diet and in wholesome natural foods. This month Village Squire
has a report on three relatively new health food stores in
Western Ontario.
And we went to London to talk to Dr. Anthony Ong, a phsycian
who uses acupuncture with a good deal of success to help his
patients keep weight off.
Towns, just like people, have to battle to stay healthy and
vital. Exeter's main street will strike those who visit it as one of
the most interesting in our area.
It offers a variety of small speciality shops, many with restored
store fronts and unusual stock and fixtures.
Downtown Exeter looks lively; its streets are crowded and
those who live there say they feel little need to go to the city to
shop.
It's a reversal of the trend that's seen too many Western
Ontario downtowns wither away in the face of city competition
and it set us to wondering what Exeter's secret is.
One component, freelancer Elaine Townshend discovered, is
the downtown Business Improvement Area.
In May Village Squire will look at changes in Western
Ontario's theatre scene.
