Inside the Rural Voice Equipment options Anticipating all the corn will be in (keep your fingers crossed) and there'll be a little spare time for farm readers to look at this, the November issue of Rural Voice, we've got stories to help you plan next year's operation. This issue focusses on farm machinery and the various options open to farmers who are in the market to add to or replace some of their equipment. Rural Voice staff talked to the experts at Guelph on the pros and cons of buying, leasing or opting tohave farm work custom done. We reviewed the OFA's demands for tighter warrantees with some area dealers and present their point of view on page 9. Some Bruce County dealers outline their experience with leasing farm equipment and we've got an interview with a man who has a large used farm equipment business. Other features this month include Giselle Ireland's advice on what to do when tragedy strikes and a barn burns down, and a story about a new sort of farm that grows tomatoes in water and nutrients instead of in soil, right in Perth County. Next month is Rural Voice's Christmas issue and will feature stories on unusual farms in Bruce, Huron and Perth. The winter doldrums Here at Rural Voice we've had some interesting response to a question we posed in last month's issue: "What can farm wives do to make their spare time productive in the long winter months in this part of the country., We're planning a story on the topic, which was suggested by a reader who answered our questionnaire this summer, in a future issue of Rural Voice. And although we have some answers, we'd like to hear more from you. Will you share your solution to this common problem with other readers. Just write out your comments...they don't have to be fancy, and send them to Rural Voice, Box 10, Blyth, Or call or write us and we'll try to arrange an interview. We'll look forward to hearing from you. Cookbooks Wanted Becaus e we often use them in our own kitchens, those of us who work for Rural Voice know how terrific the c. ookbooks that church groups, Women's Institutes and other groups in Bruce, Huron and Perth have put together are. We'd like to mention as many of them as we can find in a future issue. Will you help us? If you're an officer in any group that has issued its own cookbook, will you send a copy to Rural Voice? Tell us how much it costs and who it's available from and we'll send payment and advertise your group's cookbook in a future story in our family pages. Just mail your cookbook, with an invoice, to Rural Voice, Box 10, Blyth, NOM 1Hf and it will be included in our story. Thanks. Make sure you include a name and address so that interested readers can order a copy of your group's cookbook. P.S. We're still looking for favourite family Christmas recipes for our December issue. Send your best, and we realize they're among the most valuable heirlooms we have, to Rural Voice, Box 10, Blyth, by Friday, November 16 and be sure to include your name, address and phone number.
