AN ILDITOR RETIRES
The Weatord Mlrn,r announcer a
chane of ownership, lir. J. E. Muuro
baying sold the paper t't Mr. Dudley
Smith, a young man who claims
Meatord as his birthphae. Mr. Mun-
ro has had a varied u.•wspaper exper-
ience, on daily and ges-kly publia-
tions, and has a reputat'on as a bril-
liant paragrapher. He was recently
appointed postmaster of Meatord and
retires from newspape, work to give
his entire attention to the position.
In his valedictory Mr. Munro tells
in a modeet but moat interesting way
of his newspaper carer and of the
valued associations wbicl he formed
in his work on the varlors papers with
willies he was at one time or another
connected. Ile has known moat of
the outatanding Journalists of the Pro
rine* over quite a pert.: of yec.rs and
gives a long list of names of men who
made their mark on such papers as
The Globe, The Mall, The London Ad-
veether and other dailies. "Iet.' be
says, "the Ontario country aeeklles
can boast as able men as those who
served on the dailies," and he names
some of thoee,,rrwbota he counts among
the leaders of'the Weekly press.
In laying down hit len he doss, so
with the thought that he "has had a
.great satisfaction in Ills choice of cull-
ing; that with its ups nod downs It
has been kind to him; that the great-
est thing is a love for your work and
the eompanionship of real people."
