POSTPONED CARNIVAL A SUCCESS
Hundreds of persons visited the
Rally decorated Fawns at the rectory
op Thursday night last, when the
annual carnival was held. Tye
grounds were festooned with rows of
multicolored lights, streamers and nags,
and a huge Union Jack was hong over
all. The carnival had been postponed
from the previous Thursday, when a
heavy rainfall made it impossible to
bold anything out-of-doors.
Two draws. for major prises, were
conducted by D. E. Campbell. Mrs.
P. A. Harding, of Windsor, won the
hope cheat and Mr. K. C. Ooote, 8h.
David's street, won the wrist -watch.
Keno and wheel -of -f rteme booths
did a roaring business and the refresh-
ment booth was well patronised.

Victor Hoy, of Goderich, was the
victim of a painful *cr'ideet last week-
end when he was crushed by a log
which slipped daring the loading of a
truck near Kincardine. Hoy was
knocked to the ground by the log,
which rolled over him, breaking his
right leg and inflicting painful bruises.
The young man was brought to Alex-
andra hospital. He is a- driver for
the Goderich Manufacturing Company.

11/2 teaspoons double-acting baking
powder.
1-3 cup butter or other shortening
1 cup sager
2 eggs, well beaten
4 cop milk
1 teaspoon lemon or vanilla extras
Sift floor Dere, measure, add baking
powder, and sift together three times.
(brim batter thoroughly, odd sugar
gradually, and cream together until
light and fluffy. Add ems end beat
well; then floor, alternately with
milk, a .mall amount at a time, Mates
after each addition until smooth. Add
