4 c whole wheat flour
2 c all purpose white flour
1 c brown sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
V2 cup shortening
Store mixture in covered jar in refrig-
erator. To make 8 large muffins use 2 c.
mix. 1 c. sour milk or buttermilk, and 1
egg. Add raisins or dates if desired. Bake
at 375 degrees for 25 min.
WHOLE WHEAT GERM SESAME
MUFFINS
4 c. whole wheat flour
3 c. fine natural bran
4 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2c. sesame seeds
1 c. raisins (optional)
To make 8 large muffins beat 1 egg, '/4 c.
Oil, 3/4 c. milk and add 2 c. of the above
mix (store in covered bottle in refrigerator)
Stir barely enough to blend. Bake at 375
degrees for 15-20 minutes.
OATMEAL CAKE
Batter
1 c. uncooked rolled oats (instant or
regular)
11/4 c. boiling water
1/2 c. margarine
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
11/2 c. whole wheat flour
1 tsp. baking soda
'/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
'4 tsp. nutmeg
Topping
1/4 c. margarine. melted
1/2 c. brown sugar (packed)
3 tbsp. cream or milk
3/4 c. flaked coconut
c. chopped nuts
'/2 c. raisins
Soak the rolled oats in boiling water 20
minutes. Proceed with recipe by creaming
margarine, sugar and eggs and vanilla. Put
all dry ingredients in a sifter. Add the
soaked oats to the creamed mixture and
fold in. Sift flour mixture over and fold in.

Turn into 9 x 12 pan (lined with wax paper;
and bake at 350 degrees F 40 to 50 min.
Mix all topping ingredients. Do not remove
cake from pan but while still hot spread
with prepared topping and pass under
preheated broiler until bubbly. Watch it for
this sugary topping will burn easily.
MY MUNCHIES
1 c. margarine
1/2 c. white sugar
'/2 c. brown sugar
2 c. rolled oats
3/4 c. desiccated coconut
2 large or 3 small eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 to 1 c. mixed nuts,peel or choc. chips
1/2 c. wheat germ
1'/2 c. whole wheat flour
Cream margarine and sugar and eggs.
Add rolled oats, coconut and vanilla. Put
all the dry ingredients in the flour sifter
and add to first mixture.
Butter cookie sheets and drop stiff batter
by heaping teaspoons about an inch apart.
Bake at 350 degrees F. 20 min. or until
slightly brown. Cool on cake rack.
