the mother
of invention
Farmers are problem solvers -- some even fall in the
genius category.
For centuries, farmers have been coming up with
ingenious solutions to problems, taking for granted
their abilities to trouble shoot and not realizing how
useful some of these solutions could be to other
farmers.
The Rural Voice plans to use this space each month to
print farmers' ideas and solutions to problems.
If you have an idea you would like to share with your
fellow farmers, please contact The Rural Voice,
523-9646 or send your idea to Rural Voice., Blyth, Ont.
This idea comes from Gerry Thiel, R.R.2, Zurich,
Ont.
Gerry saves his fertilizer bags (or any Targe plastic
bags) and when he is mixing any cement, he fills these
bags with wet cement and uses them to bank up his
Janeway so that heavy rains will not wash away the soil.
He also uses them as ditch banks and at the end of a
drain where it enters the creek.
