Start collecting
new recipes
1
Recipe -collecting is often a hobby, but
most of the recipes end up as tempting
dreams and never tried. Novi there is a
purpose to collecting. With metric
conversion in progress you can collect the
new recipes for use with metric measuring
utensils. Just keep your old measuring
cups for your present recipes.
lA selection on salads can be started in
your own metric collection with this
crunchy "Bean Sprout Salad." Fresh bean
1 sprouts are available in most supermarkets
and some people sprout their own from the
mung type soybean. Besides providing the
nutrients from the original seed. the
ii sprouts develop vitamin C. as much in a
Pi cup of fresh sprouts as in a small tomato.

Canadian vegetables
available year round
In winter and early spring, most fresh
vegetables served in Canadian restaurants
and homes are imported. However, some
fresh Canadian produce is still available at
this time of year, and with current prices,
consumers should give these domestic
vegetables extra notice.
"In addition to potatoes, Canadian
carrots, onions and rutabagas are in good
( supply this winter," says Reg Greene,
chief of the fresh products section in
Agriculture Canada's fruit and vegetable
division. "And all of these vegetables are
now the cheapest they have been for
several years."
Mr. Greene says this year's Canadian
