Novi there is a purpose to collecting. With metric conversion in progress you can collect the new recipes for use with metric measuring utensils. Just keep your old measuring cups for your present recipes. lA selection on salads can be started in your own metric collection with this crunchy "Bean Sprout Salad." Fresh bean 1 sprouts are available in most supermarkets and some people sprout their own from the mung type soybean. Besides providing the nutrients from the original seed. the ii sprouts develop vitamin C. as much in a Pi cup of fresh sprouts as in a small tomato. Food consultants at Agriculture Canada I` find bean sprouts. both fresh and canned, add crunch to any salad and this recipe is a great v:ay to "sprout" into metric! BEAN SPROUT SALAD 1 can (540 mL) bean sprouts. drained or 500 mL fresh bean sprouts SO mL chopped green onion 125 mL sliced radishes 250 mL grated carrot 250 mL shredded lettuce 75 mL mayonnaise or salad dressing 1 clove garlic. crushed 2 mL salt 1 mL pepper 2 mL horseradish 2 mL vinegar Rinse bean sprouts in cold water. Combine vegetables and chill. Combine remaining ingredients and blend well. Add dressing to salad just before serving. 6 servings.
