know, I will tell you. No! a ! This is not
the true Tnpanhi g of ettristmas to me
because I am a Christian. To a Christian,
Christmas is not always gifts and
Christmasparties, even though we like
those things just bike others, but the true
meaning to us is that Jesus Quist was
born; and it is His birthday on December
25.
That, to me, is the true meaning of
Christmas, and I hope it is to you, too a a

The Poor Old Couple
Once upon a time there was an old
man and woman. They were very pr,
and Christmas was corning again. They
couldn't afford to buy each other
Christmas presents. They believed that
they could get each other a present if
they prayed about it
The old woman had saved same money
in her closet The next day she had to go
to town. While she was there, she saw a
Mee watch that her husband wanted. It
cost just the amount of money that she
had. She bought it and .took it home to
hide in her closet where she had hidden
her money before.
The old man just had to .get his wife a
present. He had twenty big, fat, .nice
chickens and sold them for '2.00 each. So
the man went into town with Ml0:00. His
wife wanted a new dress with a bat and
a pair ofshoes. He :got the set for twen-
ty dollars. Now they stall wanted a
Christmas tree, so he went out and
bought a nice big tree.
Two weeks lager
On Christmas Day, the old woman was
up nice and early and baked him. a good
breakfast After breakfast, the cine sat
in the living room and opened the
presents. They thanked God for giving
them this wanderFol Christmas.

The Year We •Shared r a
It was a stormy Christmas Eve, when
my sister Darlene and I walked out of
the store with our arms laden with efts.
When we saw a poorly dressed man stan-
ding in the snow .selling mistletoe.
We walked over to him and asked him
why he wasn't at home with his family
celebrating Christmas .Eve. He answered
us by g, "My family is at home
waiting for the to bring home a turkey,
.but I first have tosell more mistletoe."
Then without thinking about what
mother and father would think, we in-
vited the poor man and his family over
fordinner. It took same convincing, but
he finally agreed to came. Darlene went
with ithn while I went rune to tell father
and mother about our visitors.
Then the door opened, and in walked
Darlene with the poor man, his wife and
two daughters. Darlene and I became
friends with the two girls and ourrrents
hneamQ friends too.
We had a lot of fiat during the evening.
We had a great tasting supper, sang
songs. of Cyst's birth, laughed about
past Cluisttnases and generally had . a
great time. Our family bade goodbye in
the -wee hours of the morning and watch-
ed than walk : into the falling snow.
Everyone in my famiy agreed that,
that was the best Christmas because we
shared it with someone that was less for-
tunate than ourselves, and we made
lasting fes.

with dinner. So hurry up child, we
haven't got all day."
"Yes Maman."
We noanaly have a big Commas
wit lots . of gifts and delicious food, but
this year my father last his job, and my
mother can't find a. new job, :so we don't
have very much money. Now That Pm
done my chores I better get up to the
house.
Today for dinner we will have bread,
potatoes, corn, turkey and for dessert we
will have homemade Christmas pudding.
It's not very much to what we normally
have, but it's not the gifts and food that
makes Christmas great, it's Jesus' birth.
After dinner we will read the story of
Jesus' birth and that's the real great
