Relatives from here attended the funeral of Dianne Blackwell at Goderieh on Wednesday. She was the daughter off Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Blackwell and we ex- tend sympathy to the bereaved family and relatives. Shirley Stanley of Richer, Manitoba is visiting with Mr. and Mn. Tony Howald and Kayla con. 6, with Lula Stanley in Lucknow and with Cathy Stanley of Kin- cardine and other relatives. The Sutton family get together was held at the home of Cel and Wilma Sut- ton utton before Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Sutton leave for Florida. Michael Murray of Guelph spent the ,buttons hold family get-together weekend with his parents Tel and Imelda Murray. Mr. and Mrs. Ellwood Elliott con. 8, Rhoda and Cathy , , of Kincardine attended the funeral of their uncle, Ar - Bold Phaneuf at Tr7LSonburg. We extend our sympathy. Congratulations to Lucas Thacker who won first prize for his essay and third prize for his poem on Remembrance Day. Both of his grandfathers served in World War II. Mr. and Mn. Ellwood Elliott, Bruce and David attended the baptism of Elliott Dongias, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Miller at the Lucknow Presbyterian Church and were guests at the Miller home for a family get together. Mrs. Elmer Vance of here who has IIINLOUGH by May Boyle been in health for some was taken to the Kincardine and District hospital on Friday morning where she passed away later in the day. The Holyrood Women's Institute held their Animal Christmas dinner at the Mayffair restaurant in Lucknow oru December 7. Following the delicious meal everyone went to the home of Imelda Murray for the meeting which began with the Ode and the Mary Stewart Collect. Betty Smith prod- i, and welcomed everyone. The roll call was a Christmas verse followed by the Sunshine Sister gift exchange. Charlene McEwan read the minutes of the previous meeting and gave the financial report. A thank you card was read, and Christmas Cheerio boxes will be delivered to shut-ins. It was announced that Bruce County towels are for sale. Card parties will begin on January 17 and a donation was made to the Salva- tion Army for Christmas hampers for the needy in the area. The program began with a period of Carol singing. Joan Murray read the legend of the Christmas Candle and Bet- ty Smith read Time for Christmas. At this time Imelda Murray served tea and Christmas goodies. OBITUARIES Brian Wellington Steele Brian Wellington Steele, stillborn son of Brian Steele and Brenda Hackett Steele of Stratford, passed away at the Stratford General Hospital on Saturday, December 2, 1989. He is survived by a twin brother, Bran- dan Nicholas; grandparents, Lorne and Hazel Hackett of Lucknow and Fred and Norma Steele of Kirkton; uncles Fred, Monty and Randy Steele, Greg, Brian and Mac Hackett;" great-grandparents, aunts and cousins. Bryan was predeceased by his mater- nal grandmother, Joyce Hackett. A private family service was held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford, with interment in Avondale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Victoria Hospital or Stratford General Hospital Pediatric Care Unit through the funeral home (271-7411). KATHLEEN (STOTHERS) WHALE The death of Kathleen Bailie Whale, nee Stothers, of Saskatoon occurred on Nov. 17, 1989. A Memorial service was held on Wed., Nov. 22, 1989 at 2:00 pm from Grosvenor Park United Church in Saskatoon conducted by Rev. Garth Nelson and Rev. Lillian Nelson. Surviving are: her husband, Brock; a son, Brock (and Cindy) of Calgary and two grandchildren, Trenton and Kristin. Also surviving are: one brother Stephen (and Marilyn) Stothers of Winnipeg and three sisters, Agnes (and Bill) Bradbury of Hutton Rudby, England, Elizabeth Passmore, Port Perry, Ont., and Ruth (and Jim) Schultz of Kinmount, Ont. Kay was born in Ontario and received her early education there. She graduated with a B.A. from McMaster University and married Brock Whale at Arthur, Ont. in 1949. She received her Master of Education from the University of Sask. and her Doctorate of Education from the University of Toronto. She had been on the Faculty of the Col- lege of Education, University of Saska- toon since 1972. Kay was active in her church and serv- ed it both locally and on a national level. Cremation took place in Saskatoon and her ashes were interred in the Whale family plot in Woodland Cemetery, Lon- don, Ontario on Dec. 9, 1989. Rev.
