A dairy update day is planned for
Thursday, December 14th, 1909 at the
Formosa Community Centre from 10:00
a.m. to 3 p.m. The program will feature
reproduction physiology of the dairy cow,
reproductive goals and how to accomplish
this for the high producing dairy cow.
Dr. David Morrow from Michigan State
University is the keynote speaker. He is
currently involved in teaching, research
and extension programs on dairy cattle
reproduction.
A preregistration fee of $12.00, which
includes a hot lunch is required by
December 8th. For more information con-

at Royal Agricultural Winter Fair
Karen Fenton, a 4-1I member from
Port Elgin, placed fourth in the Annual
Public Speaking Contest at the Royal
Winter Fair this year. She prepared and
presented a speech entitled ,`How to
Describe a Farmer to an °Alien".
Participants had to give a five to seven
minute speech on one of three topics
related to agriculture. Congratulations to
Karen for her excellent speech and for
representing Bruce County at the Royal.
Fourteen young people from across the
province competed for $500 in each prizes
donated by the Farm Credit Corporation.
The contest winner, Allison Arkinstall of
Glengarry County, also spent an event

Association Annual Meeting
The Bruce County Soil & Crop Im-
provement Association Meeting is earning
up on W rinesday, -December 13 at 10:30
a.m. This year we are featuring Tom and
Joanne Weber, who will be sharing some
of their experiences with us from their
trip "down under". We are also pleased
to have Keith Rogers with us, who has 30
years experience in agricultural Exten-
sion in Preble County, Ohio, most recent-
ly
ecently with the Preble Soil and Water Censer.

bring an interesting perspective to our
meeting. In addition, there will be up-
dates on land stewardship, soul conserva-
tion and trop conditions, as well as the
election of directors.
Everyone is welcome to attend (that
means wives, as well as husbands), and
to bring a neighbour. The cost is $10.00,
and includes a delicious hot lunch.
Tickets are available from Soil and Crop
Directors or at the Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food office, and must be
purchased by December 8th so we can
finalize meal arrangements. See you

Seniors hosted successful
craft and bake sale

A special thank you goes out to
everyone who participated in our Annual
Christmas Craft and Bake Sale. The sale
was very successful. The items ordered
through our annual fluid -raising project
should be available by the tinge you read
this. Thanks for supporting the Seniors
Day Program.
`The .b1s trip -,Selieduled for November
30 was postponed to December 6 due to
poor weather conditions. The seniors once
again participated in giving gifts for
children through the Wingham Salvation
Army. The seniors receive a lot of
satisfaction by . giving .to children of the
surrounding area.
The next foot clinic is scheduled for
Wednesday, Decemlwr . ]Please make an
appointment at 357-1C1. This will be -the
last foot clinic of 1989, until January 4,
1990.
The next Beltone Hearing Clinic is
scheduled for Monday December :11th.
The clinic provides hearing tests, as well
as servicing of hearing aids. You may
