The good news - preprinted enrolment
forms have now been' forwarded to .all
past participants and blank forms have
been mailed to new,participants.
The not so good news - producers must
ensure that a local office staff person -has
signed the form. Many have been mail-
ed directly to Guelph and promptly
returned to Walkerton! -Please-remember
to forward them to -the local county
office.
Once these forms are processed in
Guelph producers will be forwarded the
appropriate information to detail the pro-
gram they indicated .(i.e. coWtcai!, :sheep,
etc.) Result - on balance the good -:equals
the . had.
Beef Improvement Workshop

for annual Christmas concert

A busy time at Brookside! Report
Bards .have, been ,sent out and parent-
teacher
arentteacher conferences are in full swing.
Many of ;our classes are preparing for
the Christmas concert and oursenior
boys and girls volleyball •teams are
preparing for the tournament. Coupled
with .all this activity are the many things
that are going on in the classroom.
A very special "Welcome" back to Mr.
Cober who'rejoins our staff .after helping
at G.D.0.I. for the past few weeks. A big
thank you to Mr. Yeo and to Mrs.
Webster who helped in Mr. Cober's
absence. Your efforts were much ap-
preciated by all.
Interview
Mrs. Marie Wilkins grew up in West
Wawanosh Township. Her hobbies are oil
painting, knitting and sewing. She also
likes to play cards. She likes her job
because she likes to clean and she enjoys
working with kids and people. (We're
glad Mrs. Wilkins enjoys Brookside - We
certainly enjoy her company and her
help!)
Kindergarten, Mrs. Young
Mrs. Young's Kindergarten rings has
been doing activities with numbers to
five. We 'had 'a :great, trip to• West
Wawanosh Nature Centre! Thanks to
Carley's mom, Erin's mom and Laura's
mom for coming .ion the `trip with us!
Also happy birthday to Ricky Andrew
who had a `birthday on November loth!
Grade 1, Ms. Watt
We have begun to read. And oh boy,
we love the snow! We completed a book
'about Siowy the Snowman. Poor Snowy
he melted into a 'big, big puddle. ,o
Grade 1/2, Miss Mathers
On Fri., Nov. 17 we bad a Colour Day.
Each person wore thair favourite colour
and through . graphing we -diScovereclour
favourite colours. We discussed the im-
portant :role .colour plays in nature and
we- were ur sed to learn that r hones!.

our ;favoritee%ur.
Grade 2, Mrs. Scott
On 'Monday Mr. Stewart came to our
class room and showed us some things to
do with water. This week we have been
learning lour number stofies to 12. Every
Tuesday our buddies come to our class
and we have buddy reading. •
•Grade 3/4, Mr. Yeo
Thanks to Mr. Meyers we got the op-
portunity to look through a da,dy paper.
We ended up checking -through _the
classified section and read ads. They
seemed so : interesting that we deided to
mrite our -own. We now have a set • of ads
seeking 'Christmas helpers. Would you
apply for a ,job as: reindeer lkeeper, at
$50.89 a day, :an apple .packer for $15.00
a day, or Santa's gift .mapper for $30.00
an hour? Bath job does have re-
quirements before anyone is accepted.
Grade 5, Mrs. Worsen

Junior Choir and the class is also prepar-
ing a play with Mr. Culp's class to pre-
sent at the Christmas Concert.
Grade 5/6, Ms. Rennle
This week for Current Events Kyle
Brown, Melissa Daer, Trevor Moffat and
Adella Andrew are doing a newscast for
Mr. Culp and the class. Adele and Kyle
are talking about East Germany and
Melissa is talking about Victor Davis, our
gold medalist and Olympic Champion.
Trevor is doing our commercials. In art
we are diing'man in motion pictures. We
have also done proportion of the human
body. This week we've been studying
feathers. The duck has an oil gland to
keep it's feathers dry.
Grade 6, Mr. Cober
In our Europe Study most people are
starting 'Their good copy. We have to
have this project done by December 1.
Mr. Whiteley showed us a video of when
he went to Europe. It has most of the
countries that we are studying. On
December 8 we are having a festival.
°Everybody has to bake a special recipe
from their country. Yum! We will also
haute travel booths to advertise our
countries.
Grade 7, Mr. Meyer
Brookside has senior and junior
volleyball teams going on the 25th to a
tournament at G.D:C.I. The players con-
tending from our .class on the boys' team,
playing on the first line are Philip Dix-
on,
iaon, Mike McNee, Eric Andrew and Josh
Foster. The second line consists of Leigh
Anson. The senior girls that are going to
.playin the tournament from our class
are Michelle McLinchey and Brenda
Gugg. Best of luck to all of us!
Grade .7/8, Mrs. Graham
On .Friday Ave are -having a math test
and a literature test (on Tom Gratten. We
finished :our masks in art last Thursday.
We are having ;art today. We get our
report cards tomorrow.. The Volleyball
tournament is on Saturday.
Grade 8,' Mr.:Haxlitt
This week in math we are doing roun-
ding with decimals. In shop we are doing .
our animal project. In home ec we are
doing -T-shirts,
Library, Mrs. Clarke
Research ,groups ,are making good use
of our encyclopedias. Grade 18 students
from Room d :are learning about the
Loyalists, and the -grade 6 students from
Room 12 are exploring Europe. A pat on
the :back •to the,Room 11 students for
their very fine research essays! Some
highly tunique wahines created by a re-
cent ""Machines"interest group grade 5 ,
,are ,currently en - display in, the library,
soon to.be joined yy �a sele�lon of robots,
designed by a grade 1-2 interest group.
