Getting back to basics
Laurie Alton and 19 month old
ughter, Ude, are cheeblig out Whet
back to basks Is all *beat - •the
cloth aloft*. When Kohn* Was
fit* bOrn Laurie, like a good number of
moths% valid disposable -dispers.
Iy Laurie began using Eithy Bintantrat
by lather Knows Beet, a contour shaped,
100 per cent cotton fliumelette diaper.
Laurie freely admits that she cbanged
to cloth diapers because of economies,
but it didnItake belong to realm' e that
by doing so shelties helping to clean up
the environment, by reducing con-
siderably the amount of garbage her
family contributed to their area waste
disposal site.
According to the consumer information
sheet supplied by Baby Bloomers, it is
estimated that one child can use up to
7,296 disposable diapers, creating one ton
of garbage. If you multiply one ton by
the number of babies using disposable
diapers, one can see where we can end
up with a problem in our landfill sites.
The makers of Baby Bloomers, two
Holstein women, for whom Laurie acts as
an agent, believe they have taken a step
in the right direction for protecting the
environment. They came up with a
diaper, "that has the look and fit of a
disposable, but brings us back to the
basics of cloth. You don't toes it in the
garbage." Instead of using pins, velero
fasteners hold the diaper in place and
soft elastic gives a snug fit. me diaper
contains seven absorbent Layers in the
wet zone area and 'night inserts are
available for extra absorbency. Four dif-
ferent sizes are available with special
orders available.
As with most babies, Laurie found that
Kelsie, reacted to certain disposables.
With the use of Baby Bloomers, Kelsie
has had no problems such as diaper rash
and her mom is quite happy with the
wearability and softness the diapers have
maintain' ed despite repeated washings.
As the inventors of Baby Bloomers say,
"'Mother Knows Best' when it conies to
what is good for their children," but,
"Mother Nature Knows What's Best" to
protect our environment.

Ntaeteen monthoW Zelsie Alton knows just how bnportant it is for undergarments to
be,csanfortable while tiding homey all day. Kellie and her mom, Jamie are getting
hack to 'basics using Eby Bloom" a contoured cloth diaper. While economics was
the reason Laurie insitched, she 110w realizes just how much her family was con-
tributing to environmental problems. The diapers come In fon- sizes from preemie to
