Benefit dance held for two
Ashfield townshipfamilies
On Saturday, November 4 a large
group of approximately 700 neighbours,
friends and relatives attended a benefit
dance at the Lucknow Community Colby
for Lori Howard and Laura Stanley, both
of Ashfield Township.
After an evening of socializing, Mike
Courtney acted as Mader of Ceremonies
and nailed Steve and Lori Howard, and
'Carl, lisette, lams, Mark and Brian
Stanley to the front. Mark and Brian
drew the lucky tidiret winners. First
prize, a hind quarter of beef was won by
Tannis Chisholm of Goderich; second
prize, a large quilt was won by Dennis
Quinlan of R. 3, Goderich and third prize,
a baby quilt was won by Delores Van
Osch R. 7, Lucknow.
Generous donations were presented to
both families by Orville Elliott, president
of the Lucknow District Lions; the
Londesboro Lions, and Laurie Dalton, on
behalf of the Kingsbridge C.W.L. Bonnie
and Donnie Kull presented the receipts
from the ticket sales.
Antone Van Osch and John Kuik,
neighbours of the families, presented
them with the boxes from the door.
The committee members would like to
thank everyone for coming out and mak-
ing it a great _evening.
Ashfield WMS holds meeting
The Ashfield Presbyterian Women's
Missionary Socielyheld their fall thank&
feting meeting in the church with a
number of ladies from ether congrega-
tions in attendance.
Marjorie MacLean welcomed everyone.
Edith Simpson led in the Devotions on
the theme, Than'ksgh4ng, with Mrs.
MacLean and June Wylds assisting.
Frances Nugent presided at the piano.
Guest speaker was Margaret Ferguson
from Amberley who spoke on conditions
in South Africa. Mayme Wilkins thanked
Mrs. Ferguson for a very interesting and
informative address.
A reading was given by Helen
MacLennan.
Following the closing of meeting a
social time was enjoyed.

WMS meeting held at the Ime of Peggy
Henderson, on November 1.
Jessie Johnstone was in charge of the
program 'and commenced the meeting
with a Remembrance Day poem written
by Heather Vriestaf And prayer.
Evelyn Little presented the Bible Study
on the theme bringing to mind several
things we atoidd remember.
