Guest speaker, Frank Sanders of Blyth,
was introduced. He is a native of Holland
and has been dairy farming for 21 years.
Mr. Sanders has had a keen interest in
herbs for many years. He gave .a history
of herbs which have been grown for 3000
years and have been noted for their
medicinal value. He has 73 herbs grow-
ing in his garden. Herbs may be an an-
nual plant or bi-annual and some are
perennial. Different parts of different
plans are used, 'such as leaves, flowers
and roots. Great care must be used in
the drying of the herb that is harvested
and also with the storing..Some of the
medicinal uses include for the :stomach,
headaches, blood purifier and relaxer.
The most common :use , for 'for various
seasonings Mr. Sanders brought along
several herbs growing in flower pots and
several containers of dried herbs. His in-
formative :presentation provoked a desire
for members to obtain 'more knowledge
on. herbs.
