The beautiful autumn colours remind
us that another harvest season is com-
pleted and it is time to pause and give
thanks for all the benefits that we receive
daily.
The excavation for the new home of
Mr. and Mrs. Don Robertson on Gough
Street was dug last week.
Tom Hill is building a new house on
7 Clyde Street.
Mr. and Mrs. Goldwin Purvis from
Southampton visited with Janie Hamilton
of the Sepoy Apartments recently. Also
visiting Janie were Mr. and Mrs. Cuyler
Ramage from Wisconsin.
Bruce Willits attended the Firestone
Test Center in Columbia, Ohio where
they demonstrated how they test their
tractor tires for their ability to withstand
different conditions.
:Sympathy is extended to Eldon Mann
and family in the passing of Mrs. Mann.

the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Public
Speaking Contest. Contestants between
the ages of 17 and 24 are invited to speak
on one of the following topics:

2014
- Disappearing Farmland Does It
Matter?
- Describe "Today's Farmer To An Alien.
Your five to seven minute speech could
win you an event -filled day at the
Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Five
hundred dollars in prize money will be
awarded by the Farm Credit Corporation.

Annual Meeting
The Honourable David Ramsay will be
the guest speaker at the Bruce Federa-
tion of Agriculture Annual Meeting. The
meeting takes place Friday, November 10
in the Lakeshore Racquet Club, Port
Elgin starting with a social hour at 6
p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.
The Growing Season
The seed companies are advertising
seed for 1990. The September 15 frost was
earlier than recent years. I believe crops
in this area should be -planned for
maturity between September 10 and 15.
