The Kinlough and District Bible Socie-
ty meeting was held on October 3 at the
Pentecostal church with 27 in attendance.
Walter Breckles presided and read the
scripture. Following Kinn singing, Pastor
Christensen offered prayer.
For the .program, the Pentecostal
Church number was a trumpet and piano
number of Mr. and Mrs. Reg Powell;
from the Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Jack
Barr and Mrs. Glen Haldenby ;sang ,a
duet accompanied by Lorraine MacPher-
son; from the Anpliran Church, a .duet by
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Cooper.
Rev. D. L. Howlett of London, District
Secretary of the Bible Society, spoke of
the great need for bibles and showed a
film on Poland. It was most impressive.
Mary Breckles received the offering of
$91.10 and Walter Breckles gave the of-
fertory prayer and thanked the organist
Laura Dahmer and all who took part in
the service. This was followed by the
Lord's Prayer and .a closing hymn.
Business followed with May Boyle
reading the 1988 minutes; Bessie .Maulden
.gave the financial report and Rev.
IBowlett. presided for -the ;election of of-

Falls visited with Agnes Hodgins on
,Sunday.
Audrey Borthwick of St. Catharines
spent Thanksgiving here with her
brother, Jack Bodgins and other relatives
and they visited Merle in Wingham
Hospital.
Sara Haldenby and Joey Hodgins show-
ed their 411 calves at Ripley fair and
both came home with ribbons. Glen
Haldenby, Jr., showed two heifers at the
Ripley fair and got a first and second.
Sara showed her rabbits at Teeswater
fair for the 4H rabbit club and won -soine
• prizes.

The Holyrood women's Institute met on
Thursday in the hall with Joan Murray
as hostess. Betty Smith presided and ex-
tended :a welcome

what I feel is a threat to the
-environment.
Charlene McEwan read the minutes,
financial statement and communications
which included a thank you for :a dona-
tion to Purple Grove 411 Club, also an an-
nouncement of a comedy on October 14
from the Blyth Festival and appreciation
to John 'Scott for making the hall planter
and to JoAnne and Don Murray for
bringing it to the hall. A donation was
made to Palliative Care at the Wingham
and District Hospital, in response to a
letter .received.
Institute pins are for sale now. The
area convention and rally plans were
finalized.
The bazaar date has been set for
November 4 at the hall and the Remem-
brance Day Service will be held at the
hall on November 11, at 10:45 a.m. with
conunittee two in .charge.
A card was signed by .everyone and :a
beautiful post of mums was presented to
Mary on the occasion of John and Mary
Scott's 50th wedding anniversary. Mary
made a fitting reply ;and invited all to
their open house on October 14 at the
Ripley Legion Hall.

New Zealand where she will stay for six
months.
Myrile Percy ,presided for the program
on environment. She gave household hints
,and clippings from the -;press .and 4H :in-
formation. May Boyle gave the paper on
the topic, The Environment, which
brought . up many thoughts on present day
conditions.
Myrtle Percy „and Bessie Maulden con-
tductted contests and Mrs. Percy gave the
courtesies And was the auctioneer for the
,.ale of garden vegetables. Refreshments
were enjoyed following the closing of the
meeting.
